Environmental and Social Objectives for the NEM

Attention: open in a new window. PrintE-mail

The states and territories are now in the process of handing their environmental and social laws and regulations to the new national bodies, that have no mandate to consider the impact of the NEM's greenhouse emissions or the protection of vulnerable consumers.

TEC has commissioned research on how best the environmental and social policies and regulations of the states are best accomodated in the move to national regulation.  This report recommends an additional environmental objective and an additional social objective to enable regulators to take these factors into account when making decisions.
