The environmental cost of computer waste is currently not incorporated into the cost of new computers so there's no support for a comprehensive recycling scheme.
TEC is working to bring about regulation that ensures that the ‘cost’ of recycling is included in the purchase price of all new computers and consumers have easy access to recycling schemes.

NB: While refurbishers are able to give computers a ‘second’ life, some may not necessarily dispose of residual waste computers in an environmentally responsible manner. We advise you to check with individual refurbishers to ensure that they recycle residual computer materials responsibly.
