SOS Green Spaces Forum
On Saturday 1 April, the Total Environment Centre will be holding a significant gathering of community groups and individuals with the aim of discussing how we can jointly better protect Green Spaces in the Greater Sydney Area and other urban centres across NSW.
Many of us have been working hard to save green spaces in our local areas – yet the Government continues to develop legislation and permit projects that threaten the biodiversity, local amenity and liveability of our communities.
We need a bigger voice – and strong resources to support our campaigns.
Speakers:
-
Jeff Angel (TEC) – Welcome, overview
-
Corinne Fisher (TEC) - SOS Green Spaces campaign – what has been done to date, what has been most effective and how we can support your campaigns.
-
James Grant (Australian Institute of Landscape Architects) - What is the value of Green Spaces to our community?
-
Jess Miller (202020 Vision) - Where and why are Green Spaces being lost, and what will the long-term effect of this be.
-
Emily Ryan (Environmental Defender's Office NSW) - How will new and proposed legislation and the Greater Sydney Commission District Plans impact the protection of Green Spaces? What are the best protection mechanisms?
-
Followed by a 2-hour group strategy workshop. How can we work together to improve protection for urban and semi-urban Green Spaces in the Greater Sydney Area and other urban centres across NSW
We want as many groups and individuals as possible to attend this event to increase our combined influence and effectiveness.
